I am an independent, licensed psychologist who works out of her office in Lexington, Kentucky. I am authorized through PSYPACT to offer telehealth services in participating states (see if your state qualifies: https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap).

I have been in private practice for ten years and specialize in two major areas: the treatment of trauma and attachment-based disorders, with a focus in dissociative disorders; and the use of hypnosis to assist in areas of health, well-being, and performance. I am a Certified Consultant for the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH) and teach fundamental through advanced subjects, including topics on sleep, hypnotic phenomena, elicitation and deepening, trauma, ethics, hypnosis and memory. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy by the Linehan Institute and have taught multiple workshops on the use of DBT to reduce suicidality and assist in the treatment of trauma. I am trained through Level 3 in Deep Brain Reorienting and participate in a monthly DBR consultation group. I began working with survivors of Organized and Extreme Abuse in 2018 and am dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and community awareness of the reality and prevalence of OEA.

In the personal realm, I have competed in showjumping my whole life. Discovering hypnosis was a game-changer. I became more focused, mentally organized, and more competitive overall. I wanted to share the benefits of hypnosis with others in to assist them in the challenges or circumstances they are facing.

I've gotten free of that ignorant fist
that was pinching and twisting my secret self.

The universe and the light of the stars come through me.

I am the crescent moon put up
over the gate to the festival.

The WORLD in Us

Complex Trauma & Dissociative Disorders

Trauma overwhelms our ability to cope, and trauma during our formative years inevitably shapes how we engage with ourselves, others, and the world. It effects all aspects of us - brain, body, and mind - and leads to physical symptoms, as well as difficulty maintaining friends, a relationship, and even employment. Using techniques rooted in attachment theory and the latest research*, we can work together to allow you to heal from past trauma and establish your truest sense of self.

Support and Connection with Other Providers

I also strive to support therapists in enhancing their understanding and skills in trauma therapy. I offer specialized trauma consultation in both individual and group formats. Group consultation provides trauma therapists with a supportive community, helping to reduce feelings of isolation that can often accompany this challenging profession. In group consultation, we not only introduce cases for consultation but also read and discuss books that provide the latest insights into research and trauma therapy, fostering discussion, and generating new ideas together.

As a certified consultant for the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), I provide tailored guidance for those seeking certification in hypnosis.

Attachment Theory & Interpersonal Neurobiology

Attachment Theory is conceptual framework that views the early relationship between a child and his or her parents as one of the fundamental building blocks upon which the child organizes and understands herself and the world around her. When this is harmed through neglect, and/or emotional, physical or sexual abuse, it influences every aspect of the child's way of being in the world.

Interpersonal Neurobiology explores the ways in which relationships and the brain interact to shape our internal and external experience. This information is then utilized to assist in the healing process.

Clinical Hypnosis

Hypnosis can be defined as a state of increased attention and internal awareness that allows us to access our potential or abilities that were previously unattainable. There are many myths about hypnosis, often based on popular media and/or stage hypnotism, and they often discourage people from seeking legitimate hypnotherapy. Some of the areas in which hypnosis can assist in are: phobias, anxiety, sexual problems, alcoholism, smoking control, speech disorders, weight control, chronic pain, age, self-esteem, concentration, obstetrics/gynecology, anesthesia and dermatology.

Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)®

While top-down approaches (i.e., focusing first on the story or narrative of the event, rather than the effects on the body) are popular methods for resolving trauma, they have certain limitations. It can be difficult to get to the heart of a trauma due to its overwhelming nature and the layers of thoughts, feelings and distressing re-experiencing that accompany it. DBR® aims to access the core of the traumatic experience in a way that tracks the original physiological sequence in the brainstem, the part of the brain which is rapidly online in situations of danger or attachment disruption. The brainstem has never before been recognized as an integral part of the traumatic response, and this new understanding has allowed us to heal trauma in a deeper, more complete way than previously thought possible.
